Cadillac Repair: Lazy power door lock 1994 STS, pivot points, liquid wrench

Question
I have a power door lock that moves but only slightly, not enough to lock or unlock the vehicle on the passenger side. What is this caused by? When I took off the panel to replace an amp that had gone bad I noticed a rod that followed into the door that would attempt to move the lock but wasn't exerting enough force to. When I moved the rod manually it would allow me to both lock and unlock it. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Randy

Answer
Hi Randy, There are several reasons for this. 1) the linkage is rubbing and binding against something and needs to be relocated. 2) The latch or pivot points are in need of lubrication with a spray lube like liquid wrench. 3) the lock actuator is just worn out due to all the work it has had to do and nees to be replaced. Hope that answers your question. Bill
