Cadillac Repair: 1985 cadillac de ville reset for fuel system, fuel pump relay, cold gas

We purchased a 1985 cadillac de ville we were rear ended with no damage but it hasn't started since we were told that there is a fuel reset but no clue where it is can you be of help?

Hi Gerald, You must have been talking to a Ford person because the Cadillac didn't use a fuel reset on the FWD or RWD Deville. The jar could have damaged a weak fuel pump especially if it were original. Just adding cold gas to the tank of a weak fuel pump is enough to kill it. What I would do is unplug the fuel pump connector at the gas tank and see if there is a 2 second battery voltage there and then goes away when first turning on the key. Then test the ground wire. If both are good then the pump must be bad and the gas tank needs to come down to replace it. There is a fuel pump relay that is controlled by the ECM/computor as well as all the wireing. Without testing the circuits you won't know what to replace even though the rear end hit appeared minor. Hope that helps. Bill
