Cadillac Repair: Motor, cadillac fleetwood, air ride suspension

Question
I have a 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood FWD. There is a small motor underneath the left front side just behind the grill and it is positioned just inside the fender. What is this motor for. It runs all the time and is very loud.

Answer
Without seeing it I would have to guess and say it is the AIR PUMP for your air ride suspension (shocks). If there is a plastic air line attached to it then this is what it is.

If you can e-mail me a picture of it I can positively identify it.

What makes it RUN all the time is that either there is a broken air line going from this pump to the air shocks and if you do NOT find any leaks in the lines then the fault is most likely the HEIGHT SENSOR that is a 3x3x1 black plastic box that has a round electrical plug attached to it and also has about a 4" metal rod that attaches to your axle tube as this is the sensor that keeps your vehicles shocks inflated to keep the vehicle level when you put weight in the vehicle.

This sensor is famous for going bad and causes the air pump to run all the time..
