Question -
Hi,I have a 1988 Deville 4.5L I went to crank it up one morning and it just turned over and over wouldnt hit at all.So I checked for gas and spark(had a hot battery)found that I had gas butno spark had a coil from another car so I put it in there and still nothing. So I replaced the control module and bingo she cranked right up.But the coil and the control module was bad.thenshe ran good for about 5 minutes the ISC motorshot the rpms way up   the check engine light would come on and store code E30 and E53 I know what the codes mean.I'm thinking that the ISC circuit code is coming on because more then 50% idle speed for two seconds because the signal from the distributor is interupted(code53).Ok so my question is what do I look for to make the code 53 go away, thinking maybe I mised something while changing the coil and control module? Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
Answer -
Did you CLEAR the code 53 from the computer ?.

Did you put in the IDENTICAL IGNITION MODULE that is the correct one for the vehicle ?.

Perform the following:

1. Start the vehicle.

2. Turn OFF the vehicle.

3. Check for code 53

4. Do you have a code 53 ?.
