Cadillac Repair: 94 Cadillac Sedan Deville water pump replacement, water pump replacement, torx bolts

What special tools may I need to replace the water pump and what sort of difficulties might I expect.  I have replaced a water pump on 87 Lincoln.  What else will I have to remove? It's a 4.9 Liter V-8 and water is leaking from evacuation port.  Thanks

Hi Rick, Metric sockets and wrenches will be needed. Also torx bit sockets. Useing a shop manual should be pretty straight forward however sometimes the torx bolts might be hard to remove and heating them up with a torch will be required to remove them. Once the pump is off scrapeing the old gasket off might be a chore so get a sharp gasket scraper. And when assembleing the new pump don't tighten the bols too tight or you will strip the threads in the timing cover and replacement might be required. Bill
