Cadillac Repair: oil leaking, 1993 cadillac fleetwood, cadillac fleetwood

Question
Hello Bill, I have a 1993 cadillac fleetwood brougham. There is oil leaking from a hole at the back of the motor by the fly wheel cover. It
trickles at rest but when the motor is on it runs. I'm not sure what it is . Is that a vacuum plug of some sort or has screw or something fell out? can you help me?

Answer
Hi Elijah, Most times when the oil leaks from there it is the rear crankshaft seal that is bad and needs to be replaced. Double check on top of the trans that nothing is leaking behind the engine. You might have to remove the trans and run the engine to verify the leak area but if you are going to do the work then sounds like the trans will have to come out anyway unless they use a 2 piece rear main seal.
