Cadillac Repair: replace spark plug wires, cylinder number, sparkplug

Question
step by step instructions are they aviable?

Answer
Hi Gary, I think most books will say remove the old wires and install the new ones. The best thing to do if the wires aren't original with the cylinder number on them is to take a marker and write on the distributor cap or coil end boot what cylinder it is and then change 1 wire at a time twisting the boot until the seal is broken and then twist and pull to remove. If the 4 wires are bundled together then still mark the wires but also draw a diagram to show where they go on the cap or coil and then remove the 4 wires and replace them. If your sparkplug that you remove or install ends in a "K" like R44LTS6K then do not smoke or put your hands or fingers anywhere near your face because there is a chemical on the plug that will make you sick. Wash your hands after handeling the plugs and before doing anything else. Before installing the boots on the plug or cap/coil put alittle bit of dielectric grease on the inside of the boot and that will aid removal should you need to replace the wires again in the future. Hope that helps. Bill
