Cadillac Repair: Engine missing, cadillac deville, oxygen sensor

Question
I own a 1990 cadillac deville. Recently it just seems to flutter and miss in idle and when driving at low speeds. Also service engine light stays on.I have changed BCM,plugs.  No changes. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Answer
Hi O'neil, Changing the plugs was a good start. I hope you used the delco brand that came in the car because anything else might contribute to running problems. If the engine has the original cap, rotor and wires and has 75,000 or more miles changing them might be all that is needed. Fuel injectors like to short out internally and if the engine runs worse the warmer it gets then the injectors need to be tested and replaced as needed. Since the service engine light turned on it is always best to start with that first and read the codes. Doing so could lead to the fix. Run or drive the engine until the light turns on and then pull over in a safe place and put the car in park but leave the engine running. Push off and warmer on the climate panel for 5 seconds or until the dash goes into diagnostics and then the codes will be displayed on the fuel panel. EE_ _ codes are current while E_ _  are history and happened sometime ago. Repost the results if you need more help and tell me all the codes that are displayed. Turn the car off and restart and the dash will return to normal. Just curious...why did you replace the BCM or did you mean to say ECM for engine computor? Other things such as bad oxygen sensor, tps, map sensor or poor engine grounds will display the same symptoms but without knowing the codes set or further testing alot of money could be spent before the problem is fixed. Hope that helps. Bill
