Cadillac Repair: parking brake and ABS, cadillac el dorado, linkage

I recently had an alarm put in on my 1993 cadillac El Dorado I drove the car home immediately after and went to put the parking brake on but it would not set, the brake light on the dash would come on if I kept my foot on the parking brake but it would not stay set. When the parking brake is set in this vehicle it is released by putting the car in gear. What do you think the problem is? did the alarm guy cut a wire or move the mechanism for the parking brake?

Hi Omar, I would definitely take your car back and have them recheck their work. Maybe they attached something at or near the release solinoid linkage so it is in the released position all the time or else the switch is misadjusted so that the vacuum is going to the release solinoid in park. You could try setting in differant gears to see if the switch is misadjusted. Hope that helps. Bill
