Cadillac Repair: Cadillac Deville Alternators, cadillac deville, alternators

Can a 1994 cadillac Deville 4.9l Alternator, fit on a 1989 cadillac deville 4.5l? The outside of the two alternators look much alike.  I was doing it because I needed a little more amprege for my sound system.  Can you help me?

Hi Pierre, I really haven't gotten involved with this kind of swap before so my best advise would be that if you can get an alternator to try and if it won't bolt up you could get your money back then give it a try because it is in an easy location. The pulley size might be differant and you might need to experrament with belt lenghts to get the right size. Sorry I can't be more help. Bill
