Cadillac Repair: Window switches on 1999 deville, window switches, flat blade

Question
How can i check to be sure that it is the switch and not the motor.  Is there any place i can get a wiring diagram online?-------------------------

I think i have a bad window switch on the driver side of a 1999 DeVille.  How do you get to the switches.  How do i get to them without tearing up something?  I mean, what pops off.  Where does it come apart on the armrest?  do i have to take the whole panel off?

Hi David, Put some tape on the door panel in front of the switch panel, useing a small to medium flat blade screwdriver insert it under the swich panel in the middle so you push in on a spring clip, continue to push in and pry up at the same time and the switch panel will come out of the door panel. Then useing 2 small/pocket screwdrivers remove the switch from the panel after testing the new switch first. Hope that helps. Bill

Hi David, What you need to do is go to ALLDATADIY.com and sign up for the subscription. As far as I know there aren't any free sites that will give you the info you need and it would be difficult for me to walk you through this repair if you didn't have a manual to refer to because the procedures are kinda complicated. I use all data at work and find it to be easy to navigate and work with. Besides even if you couldn't figure out the repair, all data could give you information that will tell if a shop is charging the correct amount for the repair or not and could help with future repairs.
