Chevrolet Repair: Transmission, coolant lines, transmission clutches

Question
was driving my 2006 Trailblazer on highway about 64 mph when heard a pop then high pitched whines drove it home and it got progressively worse approx 10 miles.  Next day tranny fluid on the ground took to shop today and they told me that coolant lines were rusted out and broke leaking fluid and stated this wont cause damage to the transmisson.  However this is the dealership mechanic and i bought the truck the day before this happened want to make sure they are not just doing the cheap thing and screwing me down the road does this sound legit?

Answer
HI JOSH, WELL THIS IS A HARD QUESTION, BECAUSE THERE REALLY IS NO WAY TO BE SURE ABOUT DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE TO THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES..THESE BABIES DO NOT LIKE NOT HAVING OIL ON THE THEM...FOR YOUR PIECE OF MIND ASK THEM IF THEY WOULD EXTEND YOUR WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION A LITTLE LONGER AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY.[[[[ ALSO VERY IMPORTANT,HAVE THE TRANS OIL AND FILTER REPLACED AND SEE IF THEY CAN FLUSH THE CONVERTOR AS WELL.THIS WILL HELP TONS.]]]].. SINCE THEY SAY NO PROBLEM AT ALL WITH THIS..IF IT WERE MINE I WOULD BE WORRIED AS WELL..YOU MAY HAVE DODGED A PROBLEM FOR NOW BUT,,,,,DID YOU TAKE SOME LIFE OUT OF THE TRANS ???? I WOULD THINK YES,BUT TO WAHT EXTENT ???HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,,TOM...
