Chevrolet Repair: freeze plugs, coolant leak, fly wheel

Question
Hi Tom, I have a 1989 camaro thats leaking coolant from the engine block near the fly wheel, I did some research and it seems to be a freeze plug and I can't get to it. It all started by me revering the car while on park then I noticed smoke and all the coolant leaking out. Now how can i get to that plug and replace it?

Answer
HI LUIS,,WELL LETS MAKE SURE THAT THIS IS THE SOFT PLUG AND NOT A HEATER HOSE ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE ENGINE. IF YOU HAVE A PRESSURE TESTER I WOULD USE THIS TO MAKE SURE THE LEAK IS WERE YOU THINK IT IS...IF IN FACT THE COOLANT LEAK IS FROM THE BACK SIDE OF THE ENGINE THE TRANSMISSION WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED AND FLYWHEEL TO GET AT THIS SOFT PLUG..I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,,,TOM.
