Chevrolet Repair: 92 Chevy Z71 pickup key wont turn to start the truck, turn signal switch, chevy z71

Question
I have a 1992 Chevorlet 1500 Z71 pick up 350 V8.
It had been cranking right up with no problems. I drove to a neighbors house and when I got in it to leave the key would not turn over. It will move to the on position but will no spring load to crank. I have messed with it some and it will move just enough to move the gages like it is going to crank. But it still will not turn far enough to engage the starter. I have been told it could be the rod is bent or a fuse blown. But I can not find anywhere to tell me or show me how to fix the rod. And I have no idea where the fuse box under the hood would be. I have replaced the fuses next to the steering column for  the "ignition" but that still did not fix my problem. Thank you any help or advice with this would be very useful.

Answer
HI MEGGIE,,THIS IS NOT A BENT ACTUATOR ROD GOING FROM THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER TO THE SWITCH ON TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN, UNLESS SOMEONE REMOVED THIS BEFORE YOU GOT IN IT TO START IT AND BENT IT,,NO, I DID NOT THINK SO..A FUSE WOULD NOT CAUSE THIS EITHER..THE PROBLEM 90% OF THE TIME IS THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER [WHAT YOU PUT THE KEY INTO] THE TUMBLERS GO FAULTY. TO CK, REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL, TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AND REMOVE THE KEY BUZZER CONTACT THIS PULLS STRAIGHT UP AND OUT, THEN REMOVE THE SCREW THAT HOLDS THE IGN LOCK CYLINDER TO THE STEERING COLUMN, REMOVE THE CYLINDER AND SEE IF THE KEY TURNS IN THE LOCK CYLINDER ONCE REMOVED,IF SO, THE LOCK CYLINDER IS OK. I BET IT WILL NOT..[BUT IF IT DOES TURN ALL THE WAY THE IGNTION SWITCH IS FAULTY]..I HAVE TO SAY THIS IN MY 30 YEARS OF DOING THIS, I HAVE NEVER HAD A SWITCH DO THIS....I HAVE SEEN PROBLEMS DEEPER IN THE STEERING COLUMN BUT VERY, VERY RARE.. AS I SAID ABOVE,, USUALLY THE LOCK CYLINDER IS AT FAULT.. A NEW CYLINDER WITH NEW KEYS IS ABOUT $ 28.00 THIS IS NOT HARD TO REPLACE,JUST GET ON LINE AND TYPE HOW TO REPLACE MY LOCK CYLINDER FOR YOUR YEAR OF TRUCK. THERE WILL BE PICTURES AND STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS...IF YOU NEED MORE INFO GET BACK TO ME.TOM...
