Chevrolet Repair: 1994 Chevy Suburban 4x4, air control valve, chevy suburban

Question
The truck will start and run fine at first. But after about 5 minutes the truck will start to lose power. At idle and driving but when the truck gets warmed up it will idle and drive if. When it acts up at idle, it acts like a sticky idle air control valve. When should i look next and what are the specs on what i am suppose to look at? Thanks Jeremy

Answer
Hi Jeremy.... two things to check besides cleaning the idle air control...check that EGR is working, or stuck open.... also check for plugged cat converter. stuck open EGR will make it run bad at start up and get better as it gets hot....same with plugged cat....make sure if you clean idle air control do not use an abrasive on it....use a good air intake cleaner..hope this helps
