Chevrolet Repair: 1998 chevy venture engine problem, mumbo jumbo, coolant temp

Question
I recently had the intake manifold replaced. The car has 143k miles on it, it sat since oct. 07. Driven in july 08, drove ~150 miles on highway. when you start it cold, it runs rough, if driven right after starting, check engine light blinks indicating a misfire. just today, the engine showed some problems, while driving home, the car stalled, when restarted(after it hesitated to) it was backfiring, sputtering, spiting then stalling. i tried using octane booster, adding gas, dry gas. Did nothing. Just to add, when you start it cold and drive, it drives fine. after warming up it starts with the problem.   Also to add, not sure when spark plugs were changed. Bought at 40k miles, plugs never changed, no tune up (bad thing i know). front 3 plugs changed several years ago. I think the plugs are bad. What do you think? I will be taking it to a mechanic soon (no money lately). If you could take some time to help me i would appreciate it.

Answer
It does sound like a bad plug, that would be the first thing to do, have a full tune up done.  Also you stated that when cold it runs ok, but once warms up that's when all this mumbo jumbo happens.  It could be a faulty O2 sensor, or coolant temp sensor.  Some mechanics when replacing the intake gaskets, break off the coolant temp sensor, located on the drivers side front of engine, usually a 2 wire connector, one wire yellow other black.  Check that connector first, but definitely get that tune up done
