Chevrolet Repair: cruise control, volt ohm meter, chevrolet c1500

1994 chevrolet c1500 v6 auto.how do i trouble shoot my cruise control? Is there a way to change the on/off switch without pulling the steering wheel?  thank you;ALBERT

Hi,

 Do you have a digital volt ohm meter and know how to use it?  It is typically one of two things wrong with it.  The lever buttons on the handle have wires that run down through the column an bend and crack.  I you are good with a soldering iron these can be repaired.
 The handle turns a bit and pulls right out.
The cruise module could also be defective and you need to test it and make sure there is power and grounds to the actuator and signals from the switch.
