Chevrolet Repair: 2000 Chevy Venture - Drivers Window Problems, 2000 chevy venture, chevy venture

Question
I have a 2000 Chevy Venture Ext with a driver's side window problem.  A few months ago, while putting the window up, it came out of the track and was crooked.  I had to straighten it for the window to go all the way up.  I have power windows.  I took the door apart and notice the window regulator looked bent.  So I order a new one and installed it.  It still does the same thing.  It almost appears the window while going up binds in the weather stripping causing it to come out of the "track", and it is causing stress on the new regulator.  I can't understand what is cause the "play" in the system since nothing appears broke.  Afterall, it did work before.  Also, how much torque should be on the spring.  When I took the regulator off, the spring came updone.  These Ventures have issues.  Just last night, my check engine light came on after almost stalling.

Answer
Hey,

The window motor regulator in those vans are so badly engineered I can't believe I don't see more in the shop.  At least once a week we have one coming in with a bad motor, broken track or bad regulator.  You need to check the adjustment and fitment of both tracks.  The forward one gets bent when the regulator does and can be adjusted by hand back to the original position.  The spring is just to help the motor a bit when going up.  Watch your fingers when installing it and use visegrips to hold it together.  Its like a little guillotine when it comes apart.
