Chevrolet Repair: Blazer, brake light switch, light bulbs

Question
MY 1996 Chevey Blazer 4.3L Vortex 4wd Both my tail lights went out at the same time and i checked the fuses and put a new headlight switch it and it wasn't it then i tried a new brake light switch and it still didn't work the only thing i haven't done is check the wiring which im going to do what do you think

Answer
I assume it is the brake lights that went out.

I hate to tell you this but it is probably the turn signal indicator switch.  Power comes out of teh brake switch and then goes to the multi function switch and then to the brake light bulbs.  It does this so the power can be interrupted by the switch and also return to the neutral position.  Put your foot on the brake and wiggle the indicator switch.  Have someone watch the back of the truck.  This might help a bit to diagnose it but It really is a problem.  And they arent cheap either.  The plastic stud that the switch rotates on cracks and doesnt hold pressure on the contacts inside.
