Chevrolet Repair: S10 transmission, solenoid pack, blown fuse

Question
I have a 1994 4x4 S10 with a 4.3L CPI and a 4L60E automatic transmission. The problem started a while back, when you would floor the accelerator (this being the time the transmission would normally downshift) the fuse shared by the IP and the transmission would blow (with the blown fuse the trans goes into fail-safe and locks itself into 3rd gear). Well replace the fuse and the trans and IP would work again until you pinned it again. Through repeated encounters with this occurrence now the IP is still working fine but the transmission takes off out of 3rd unless you manually shift it down to 2nd but there is still no first (fail-safe mode). Both the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids are brand new... please help, and appreciate your time.

Answer
Hey,

The feed wire to the solenoid pack is shorted that drapes over the bell housing.  YOu need to split that harness and check the wiring or run a new feed wire.  If you have an ammeter put it in line and go under the truck and grab the harness and give it a yank.  You will see the ammeter spike when the short touches ground.
