Chevrolet Repair: tbi fuel system, broken spring, pressure valve

Question
1989 chevy 1 ton 4x4 truck. 454 eng. after warm up, fuel injectors keep spraying heavy and floods engine. was recommended to look at failed temp sensor or broken spring on the fuel pressure valve. what do you recommend checking?

Answer
Hey,

Check fuel pressure for sure.  If it is within spec 9-13psi then suspect a faulty CTS.  There is one for the gauge and one for the computer so don't replace the wrong one.  If you unplug the CTS and short it with a paperclip the ECM will think it is full hot.
