Chevrolet Repair: transmission question, finishing nail, handy person

I would like to know if the repairing of a 1986 Chevy S-10 pickup transmission can be done by myself. I am a handy person capable to deal with tools and grease.

Hey Regino,

  Highly doubtful, internal transmission repair can be difficult and time consuming for the best of the best.  It takes years of experience to identify failed components and the cause of failures can be very elusive.
  I am a handy person too.  I like sawdust and glue but I can split a 4x4 with a finishing nail....  :)
