UK Car Repair: Vauxhall Corsa starting problem, gauge speedometer, vauxhall corsa

I have a 53 Vauxhall Corsa 1200. Intermittent problem when starting but getting more frequent - dials eg. petrol gauge, speedometer, temperature gauge etc all remain at 0 when engine turned on to start. Engine turns over but cannot and will not rev up to keep engine going. All other electrics work when this happens. When this happens sometimes I can leave it for a while and it will be OK but this time it seems longer. Any advice what this could be?

Hello, what does 53 stand for?  The times when it does start do the gauges work?  It sounds like an ignition switch or relay fault, if the gauges lose power then it is likely the fuel pump is too.  You have to test for feeds out of the ignition switch first.
