Chevrolet Repair: Fuel pump fuse location, inline fuse, glass fuses

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1994 Gmc Jimmy 4.3 vortech , Fuel pump wont run, I was told the fuse is on the firewall ,Large guage red wire with a white fuse casing, when i checked the casing was open and no fuse, what type of fuse should be put in the casing? Any help will be appreciated. Thankyou.

ANSWER: Hey,

The fuses don't normally jump out on their own but if you are missing a fuel pump fuse a yellow 20amp  ATO fuse is what you want.

QUESTION: Thankyou, but this fuse is an inline glass type fuse, 20 amp still the way to go? It fell out due to deterioration on the casing, thats all i can figuere.

ANSWER: Hey,

That won't be the fuel pump fuse unless someone has modified the circuit.  GM did not use glass fuses in this year.

QUESTION: Again thankyou,on the pass side under the hood there are two posts the top has one wire the bottom has three, on the bottom one there is an inline fuse thats missing and the fuel pump wont run without it. If this is not the fuel pump fuse then what is it and why do people keep telling me that, thats what it is. I just want to make sure.thanks again.

Answer
Hey,

I could be wrong but to my recollection the fuse holder is square with an ATO square plastic style fuse.  I don't remember ever seeing one other than that in that location.  Or maybe I have not replaced one.  maybe someone took out the normal fuse holder and intalled an aftermarket one.  Does it look like it was wired into the circuit.
