Chevrolet Repair: 97 chevy s-10 clutch problems, clutch problems, clutch pedal

Question
i just bought a 97 s-10 2.2 ltr. 4 cylinder, the other day and it was running great. then yesterday while driving my clutch pedal went to the floor and was free moving. i can actually swing the pedal. what would cause this. i am thinking the linkage but i dont know for sure?

Answer
Hey Nick,

The clutch on a 1997 is hydraulic and does not have any adjustment.  It sounds like something has started to leak or it may just be low on fluid. The reservoirs are ridiculously small on those vehicles and as the clutch naturally wears the release bearing moves towards the pressure plate and something needs to take up the space.  Which I must add is fluid!
Check the fluid reservoir.  It to my recollection it is a small black cylinder on the drivers side near the brake booster.  IF it is empty just fill it up with fluid and get in the vehicle and just start pumping  the pedal like crazy.  It may get better with time but also may have to be bled out.
