Chevrolet Repair: 1988 Chevy Blazer 350 TBI 4x4, gasket leaks, rotor coil

Question
If I drive the Blazer for 30 minutes or more and then park it, after it sits for 30 minutes to an hour it starts, idles low and dies. It will restart, but must hold ignition in cranking position and push accelerator. After you depress throttle for 20 - 30 seconds it will run fine.  The truck has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, fuel filter, recently cleaned air filter (K&N). All was done before this problem started???? Any ideas on where to start?

Answer
The way you explain the conditions sounds to me like your engine is being flooded with gas. Holding the pedal down while cranking puts the EFI in clear flood mode...cutting down how much gas is being sent by the injectors.
I would drive the vehicle until it's fully warmed up. Shut off engine, remove air cleaner, watch both fuel injectors to see if gas is dripping from them, causing the flooding condition. You may have to watch them for awhile. If one or both injectors drip gas, they are defective and will need to be replaced.

If injectors are ok, I would then look at the IAC to see if it's operating ok.
Also check for TBI base gasket leaks (common problem).

Hope this helps.
