Chevrolet Repair: 95 camaro (5.7), crap design, brand distributor

Question
I have a 95 camaro and I cant figure out what the problem is.I can drive my car for about 20 minutes and it drives fine, then it will miss and jerk real hard and then it dies.It then wont start back up.If I go back in an hour or so it will start right up?Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Mike,

Your ign. module is overheating, or the distributor is bad.  I suspect the distributor because it is a crap design.

If you decide to replace the dist., get a chrysler harmonic puller from the neighborhood parts store loan-a-tool program, and get an aftermarket, but good brand, distributor.  The orginal design is flawed.  So OEM is just as bad.  Replace the whole dist., not just the cap and rotor.

Ign module can be tested.  It is on the driver side head, in the front.  It is with a large heatsink.  Take it to the neighborhood parts store to test it.  I would change it anyway, because they go bad after a while, and these cars need to run perfect.
