Chevrolet Repair: Rear hatch door fails to open, chevy astro van, chevy astro

I cannot open my rear hatch door on my 2003 Chevy Astro van. The turns in the lock, and the keyless entry system seems to be working (the mechanism for the rear door sounds like it's engaging/disengaging).

Hello Jim,
I would probably try to spray some WD-40 down into the hatch, trying to get as much as possible sprayed in the area of the latch, trying regularly while spraying it in.
Might also have someone hold the hatch in the closed direction while trying it.
Might justify a trip to a body shop.
