1-6-5-4-3-2

While it's true that the firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2, the 1995 S-10 4.3l engines had two different distributor cap layouts. These different layouts may cause some confusion, because one of the caps crosses points internally, making it difficult to tell where the connections are actually going. Below are these layouts and the positions at which the plug wires should go.

Early 95 has the cap where the wires connect vertically to the top:

5 ......... 2

....6 .. 1

Later 95 has the cap where the wires connect horizontally to the sides:

6...5

4...1

2...3
