Chevrolet Repair: car turns over but will not start, chevy cavalier, fuel regulation

i have a 1999 chevy cavalier
replaced plugs, wires, ckp sensor
tested fuel pump
put ether and fuel directly into carb no go
tested spark plugs and they do spark
what else could it be

Hi Richard,

It can be a few things.  What is the fuel pressure? (should be about 40 - 50 psi).  Vapor lock (unscrew gas cap and try to start).  Jumped time (bad timing belt).  Compression (check that).  Bad or fouled plugs (check that - could indicate a bad injector).  Coolant sensor (that is the choke).  Bad  TPS (dead spot - put your foot on pedal and try to start).  

If you got spark, and are sure it is good spark, then it must be fuel or air.  If the air cleaner is clean and the timing is good, then it must be fuel.  It is fuel regulation/delivery, or supply.

Do some trouble shooting and write again.
