Chevrolet Repair: chevy 350 motor problem, chevy 350 motor, rod bearings

Question
i have a 1984 monte carlo with a 350 4 bolt main i just put in and i replaced all the gaskets and seals and oil pump and fuel pump and rod and main bearings are new and timing chain and gears double roller i thought i had a good carbarator on the car and it was over loading with gas and i had allot of gas in my oil and i have a knock in my motor did the gas in the oil cause the rod bearings to go out and if maybe so aproximately how long for the car to be runnig with gas in the oil before new rod bearing would go out

Answer
The gas in the oil is a sign of blowby in the cylinders. Usually no, the gas in the oil probably isn't what caused the bearings to go bad. I would imagine that with the carb overloading the engine the only way it would run good is to open the throttle up. If that's true then I would say that over revving is the cuase of the bearings going bad.
