Chevrolet Repair: Ceverolet AC, r 134a, liter engine

Question
Help!  My A/C on my 1999 Cheverolet 1500 with a 5.3 liter engine blows cold for about five minutes and then blows at air temp.  I can tuen off the A/C and wait a few minutes and then it will blow cold again.  I have just replaced a cycling relay or valve of some sort which the Cheverolet service dept. said was the problem.  Please help it is hot in Texas.

Answer
There are a couple of things this could be. First place I would start is to pull the switch out of the dash, check all the wiring and make sure there is no burnt or loose connections. The cycling switch and bad wiring are usually the two most common problems with those. If that isn't the case then I would say your a/c needs to be recharged. If you don't know how to do this on your own you can go to your local auto parts store and buy a can of R-134a and do a quick recharge. If this fixes your problem then more than likely you have a slow leak in the system somewhere that you should have checked out and fixed sometime soon. Good luck.
