Chevrolet Repair: 1995 monte carlo, monte carlo ls, egr vacuum solenoid

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1995 Monte Carlo LS 3.1 v6. When I get to 45 to 50 mph it runs real rough. It cuts out bad and acts like it has no power. But when you get to 55 mph it clears up.Also when you try to pull a hill it lacks power. I replaced the map sensor but it didn't help. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Jeannep
ANSWER: About the only thing I think of is the fuel filter may be clogged. I would replace the filter and run some injector cleaner through it. Also check the air filter it may need to be replaced also. Sometimes just a little tune up and maintenance can go along way when it comes to power issues. Try that and get back to me if it is still doing it, we will go from there if so.

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply.I have one more question. Could you please tell me where the fuel filter is located? Thank you
ANSWER: That should have an inline fuel filter. It should be located somewhere under the car by the fuel tank. Easiest way to find it is jack up the rear of your car and support is very good. Find the fuel lines coming from the tank to the front of the car, thay should run down either the driver side or the passenger side, never the middle, the filter should be on one of the lines. If you already have the filter you should have an idea what it looks like and that will help to locate it easier.

QUESTION: I replaced the fuel filter but it didn't help. I took it in to a local garage and had the fuel pump pressure checked and he said it was fine.He also said he thought it was something electronic because it ran to good at an idle.Do you have any ideas?

Answer
About the only other thing I can think of is maybe the egr valve or the egr vacuum solenoid but that would cause a check engine light to come on. If you can take it to somewhere like autozone and have them run a diagnostics check on it. If they don't come up with anything you may have an internal problem.
