Chevrolet Repair: 93 chevy 2500 suburban, worn bearings, volume oil

Question
Our suburban has developed a hesitation (like a chug-chug) when accelerating, usually around 40 mph.  and then the oil pressure is fine until the truck has warmed up.When you stop the oil pressure gets extremely low and the warning light comes on.  When you start driving again it goes back to normal. help?

Answer
Hi Lisa,

"Developed" a hesitation??  Sounds like fuel filter.

Oil pressure low at stop, indicates low level, or worn bearings.  If the level is right, the bearings are not as tight as they were orginally.  Normal wear and tear.  A quick fix is to replace these bearings with same size.  That will give back the pressure, but not liven up the motor as a rebuild would.  While you are replacing the bearings, put in a new high volume oil pump.

Good luck!
