Chevrolet Repair: 95 Chevy Astro - blower motor, resistor pack, chevy astro

Question
Hi Van. The blower motor switch in my 95 Astro is the five position switch (Off, Low, two intermediate, and High). My fan works in one of the intermediate positions and in High. Can the resistor pack have this effect?

Also, my dimmer switch is located on the turn signal lever. The dimmer switch is very difficult to actuate. If the tilt steering is 'up' all the way - it almost always works. If the tilt is 'down' - it will not work. Is the mechanism just worn? If so, what parts would I need to replace? Thank you! Great information and answers!

Answer
Hi Mike,
On the dimmer switch, it is actually mounted further down the steering column, and operated by a rod from the lever.
The switch may just need to be adjusted or tightened.

The resistor pack could do that, but there are two resisters I believe, and the speeds are derived from a combination of relays and resistors.
I would swap a couple other relays into their place first. There are several alike.

Then try the resistors.
