Chevrolet Repair: 1998 Chevy Malibu Timing Chain Tensioner, timing chain cover, chevy malibu

Question
I am having some major problems with my 4cyl. 1998 Malibu timing chain tensioner. I originally had a rattle, which was a loose timing chain. I replaced the chain, all gears, timing chain guides, and tensioner. 1 month later the rattle returned. The tensioner was stuck in the back position. I replaced it with a GM tensioner. 2 months later "loose chain." I replaced it 3 more times. Same result. I even used an older model tensioner. No luck. I know it is a spring loaded tensioner backed with the oil pressure. My oil pressure is good. Oil is all over everything when I remove the timing chain cover. I am at my wits end on this issue. I am pleading for an answer to this unusual issue. Many thanks for any input you may have.

Answer
i know its tough do check, but you need to check the length of the chain. make sure its the proper length. that could be causing unusual strain on the tensoiner wearing it out. this is about the only thing i can say to help at this point. if you cant find out how big its supposed to be, maybe i can. also, get the part number of the chain you got from wherever you got it from. if its not gm, it may not be right. i hate to say it, but aftermarket, while cheaper, isnt always the best choice. parts made after market are made within means, factory is specific. ill try to check tomorrow on specs of the timing chain.
