-----Question-----
Car has been running perfect then while driving suddenly went to idle only and pulled over, after giving gas pedal several times car ran fine for two blocks and parked it.  After several hours car would not start but was turning over fine.  Checked spark-OK,Can hear fuel pump running, had module in distributor checked -OK.  Have gas smell in throtle body. Tried pouring small amount in TB and also starter fluid, still won't start.  Is it possible that fuel pump may be delivering small amount of gas to TB and vehicle will still not start due to possible lack of fuel pressure which has not been checked.  Could it possible be solonoid or some other electrical device on TBI
-----Answer-----
My first thought would be the cable to the throttle plate broke.

Van,
I checked the cable to the throttle plate and it's OK.  It just won't start, but will turn over.  Any other ideas??
Thanks!

Answer
The only solenoid type thing in that area is the idle air control valve, and that wouldn't keep it from running. it would only affect the idle.
Low fuel pressure could do it, weather from a restricted filter, bad pressure regulator, ruptured gasket in the throttle body, etc.
You should be able to look down inside the throttle body, and see cones of gas below the injectors.
Any chance it is water in the tank?

The throttle position sensor is another possibility for the way it acted, but shouldn't keep it from starting.

I would check the fuses, and power to the injectors, and then check the fuel pressure.
If it is TBI, it should have a full 13 PSI.
You should be able to borrow a fuel pressure tester from Autozone.
