Chevrolet Repair: 93 Chevy 1500 loud squeak rear area, chevy 1500, shiny spots

Hello, My 93 Chevy 1500 PU has developed a loud squeak in the rear area particularly when accelerating, as the truck lurches forward, from a stop. I looked around at the underside for shiny spots on the metal surfaces, but found none.  What do you think it might be? Thanks, John

Hello John,
If it starts out with a "squeek, squeek, squeek" that gets faster and softer as you speed up, that is a classic symptom of a bad "U"joint.
Brakes are another possibility. Try accelerating with your left foot slightly applying the brakes as you take off, to see if that makes a difference in the sound.
