Chevrolet Repair: 94 Cavalier with limited heat, upper radiator hose, coolant level

Question
My Cavalier isn't givin off a lot of heat. Yesterday I changed the blower and it stopped the "quacking" sound that was coming from under the hood. Now there is heat but not enough to warm the car or defrost the windows. The heater core was replaced in June by a mechanic and it was blowing strong all summer. Can you please give me direction on what could be the problem and what I can do to remedy this problem?.
Thank you
Tracie

Answer
Tracie...let us see if we can solve this one...First I want you to remove the radiator cap(only when the engine is cold...please) Now see if the coolant level is right to the neck of the radiator. If it is not i want you to fill the radiator until it is at the top.Now leave the cap off and start the engine. In about 15 minutes you should see that water start to disappear. if it does top it off one more time and then install the cap. Go feel the upper radiator hose and then feel the two hoses going to that new heater core. They should be about the same temperature.Don't let the level of the overflow bottle be your guide to whether the radiator is full or not! Always check the radiator level when it is cold..it should always be right to the top.The temperature gage, if you have one , should sit right in the middle of the gage. If not ..replace the thermostat...Best
