Chevrolet Repair: Electrical problems, buick electra, 1978 buick electra

Question
I have a 1978 Buick Electra overall in very good condition, but recently I've been having some electrical problems, I've been told that era of car style basically are the same (i.e.) Chevy's,Buicks,Olds, etc.  First off my interior/door/dome lights will not go off unless I take out the fuse, and my parking lights will not go off unless I disconnect the battery. I've been told to check my fusible links, relays, and circuit breakers but I'm having a hard time finding them. Could you help me understand this problem and if its links, etc could you help me locate them, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Answer
Hello Mark, 1978 was along time ago for me and I'm not sure on the options this car might have had. The dome light problem is either the hedlight switch turned to the point that the dash lights are at very bright and the dome lamps are now on full time. Turn the dash light brightness down to see if this is the problem. If not i would remove each door jamb switch until the dome lights go out. If you find the switch that turns them off replace it.. The parking lamps could also be the headlight switch. This is where the power comes from.

Hope this helps you
