Chevrolet Repair: spark plugs fouling, upper intake manifold, coolant temp

Question
Hi, have an 95Astro van. It wont start, checked everything I could think of then thought to change the plugs, started and ran great again for a week. Van sat over the weekend then wouldnt start again, checked the plugs and they were wet and smelt of gas.
Whats my next move?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Rick, The next move would be to scan the engine to check all the sensors to make sure that they are reading correctly. Like if the coolant temp sensor was reading 35 deg. and it was 150 deg, that would make it run rich. You should test for good spark at the ignition coil. If it is jumping a gap of 3/4 of a inch then it is good. Now check the coil wire for a spot that has rubbed through and is arcing. If this is all good then maybe you have a bad CPI injector. These go bad and fill the inside of the intake manifold with gas. Really the only way to check this is to remove the upper intake manifold and look for raw gas.

Hope this info helps
