Chevrolet Repair: engine will not run, air control valve, solenoid valve

Question
hi there, an '89 chevy s-10 pick-up with a 2.5(1.9) four banger. a throttle body fuel injection. promblem is engine turns but doesn't run. i pour gas into the throttle body then engine starts and runs with no problem. i've replaced the ignition module, fuel injector, the ecm and prong, and the idle air control valve. i checked the fuel pump to see if gas flowed through, but not sure about the pressure. do you have any ideas of what might be faulty, or were should i go from here. some shops wanted to charge me more than what the truck is worth, for repairs that might not even fix the problem. another question i have is , where do the wires from the fuel injector lead(connected) to. i see they run into a big bundle, and can't trace it from there. the only other problem that comes and goes, when the engine does run, it runs at a high idle. this is the third time the truck has acted this way. first time i replaced the distributor cap and rotor. second time replaced the ignition module, but the problem came back and got worse becuase it didn't even run if i poured gas . i was suspecting it could of been a moisture issue, but it is not raining any more. i hope you can figure it out with the info i provided.

Answer
Hi Fred,
If it starts when primed like that, fuel would be the suspect.
Checking the fuel pressure is the first step. Needs to more than flow...needs to maintain 13 PSI.
Could just be the filter.

Of course I would check the fuses first. Make sure there is battery power going to one of the wires at the injector when the key is on.The other wire goes to the ecm, which grounds it, and completes the circuit as desired. That injector is just a cute little solenoid valve that opens several times a second.
