Chevrolet Repair: front wheel drive, cv joints, brake calipers

hi;
  I have a question regarding the brakes and cv joints in my '95 Corsica.I have owned the car for about 4 years and ever since the abs light has been on. Recently I noticed that the car pulls to the left when coasting but slightly.If iam driving at hwy speed and hit the brakes the car violently pulls to the left and "swoops" down to that side.When iam dead stopped and let off the brake the car wont move until i give it some gas,feels like the brake is locked up.So i raised the car with its rear wheels off the ground and spun them by hand,i started the motor with the power brake on and again applied the brakes and released,wheels did not stick and moved freely.Now i did the same to the front wheels,i placed the tranny in gear (d) and the left cv/wheel spun while the right didnt do anything.But once i gave the car some gas (20-30)mph the right wheel/cv kicked in and all ran,is this mormal? I applied the brakes and relased and spun the wheels no sticking.What is wrong? whats sticking in that car?,Is it that abs electronic contraption pulling my car to the left or is it basic brake hardware problem?

Hi Tom,

As far as 1 wheel spinning ( left ) at low speeds and then both at higher speeds, yes this is normal, the " drive " wheel on your car ( and every other FWD car )is the left front, at higher speeds centrifical force is what made the right wheel spin, as for what is causing your car to pull hard left, more than likely you have a bad set of brake calipers, my suggestion would be to get a new set of " Loaded" calipers ( calipers with brake pads ) and install them, a bad brake hose can also cause this problem. you didnt mention mileage of this car but considering its age I would replace both brake hoses with the calipers. this WILL solve your problem. I am sure of it, I have seen this problem and repaired it several hundred times. Hope this helps and good luck
