Chevrolet Repair: engine performance, 1992 chevy lumina, chevy lumina

I have a 1992 chevy lumina 3.1
It idles fine, takes part throttle, but won't rev or take any gas over half throttle. If i hold it to the floor, it just runs like it has a rev limiter kicking in, by cutting out and in, but stays running.Fuel pressure is 40psi. Any suggestions?

Hi Richard, These cars do have a rev limiter that only works when the car is in park or neutral. It will go to around 3500 rpm and cut out then kick back in and cut back out. If the car has no power then the first thing to do is replace the fuel filter. This cures almost all these type of problems.
