Chevrolet Repair: heater, heater hoses, temp gauge

Question
I have a 2000 chev. s-10. i just bought it and the heater will just barely get warm. the temp gauge is showing about 170-180 degrees. is there a relay or some type of module that could be the problem, or could it be the thermostat?

Answer
Hi Jeff, I would flush the cooling system, replace the thermostat while your flushing the system. Then flush the heat core by removing the heater hoses from the engine, not the core so you don't damage it. Run water through both ways with a garden hose. The heater core will plug from dirty coolant so you need to do all of this to have a repair that will last.

Hope this helps you
