Chevrolet Repair: 2000 Blazer Front Differential, clunk, driveshaft

Question
Mark, my Blazer works fine in 2 wheel drive, when you push 4 wheel HI or LO it makes a loud clunk from the front end. Most times it will then lock up completely. I jacked the front end, when you spin the front driveshaft by hand, you can hear noises in the front differential. I read an earlier post, you mentioned a transfer case switch, shift sleeve, and the shift sleeve gear. Same issue here? I believe the hub bearings and half shafts are fine. Thank You!

Answer
Hi Dave, Yes same thing here as long as your tires are all the same make and size. You can not put new tires in the the front and not the rear, new tires are larger and roll at a different rate. This will cause binding between the front and rear axle which is not good for anything.

Hope this helps
