Chevrolet Repair: fuel, oil pressure switch, electric fuel pump

Question
I have a 1999 chev sububan, it just stopped running as I was driving, I have great spark but I do not hear the electric fuel pump run when I turn on the ignition switch, thinking the fuel pump is bad, I change the fuel relay with no luck, is there a fuel shut off switch that could be reset?
any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks
Jim

Answer
Hello Jim,
No cutoff switch like a Ford.
There is a relay, but there is also an oil pressure switch which would not have let it die while driving like that, so I would check the fuse, and the fusible link. Then check for power getting to the pump. A bad ground back at the pump could do it, but that should also affect the fuel gauge reading.

If the fuse and wire connections are good, then I would suspect the pump.
You can try the little trick of laying under the truck, and just as someone turns the key to run, smack the bottom of the tank, just about under the center. That will sometimes jar a pump into working for a while.
If that works, you will very soon need to replace it.
While inside the tank, be sure to make sure the wire connections inside there are tight.
