Chevrolet Repair: Anti-freeze smell, core tubes, heater hoses

Question
I have a 1989 Chevy S-10 Pick-up, and lately when I'm using the heater the cab starts smelling real strongly of Anti-freeze. Also, my window fog up and no matter how much or high I run the defroster the haze doesn't go away. What is the cause of this and how can I fix it?
Thanks,
Jeremiah

Answer
Hello Jeremiah,
I would almost 100% gurantee you need a new heater core.
The only possible exception would be if one of the heater hoses is leaking right where it clamps to the heater core tubes under the hood, but I really doubt that. It would have to be leaking the coolant to the inside of the heater housing.
The cores are not all that expensive at a parts store, and replacing it is by far a better idea than trying to have it repaired.
