Chevrolet Repair: Chev Starter 1979 350 V8, conversion van, chev

Question
I have a '79 Chev 3/4 ton Conversion Van, with a 350 V8, automatic, The starter keeps "moving" out of alignment, each time I start the engine. It has two bolts, angled from each other, bolting from the bottom up into the block. Seems to have had the starter replaced at sometime in the past, due to yellow junkyard chalk markings on the casing. I get one start, maybe two, then must crawl under, loosen the two bolts, realign the starter, tighten the bolts again, to get another start. Both bolts will still be tite as previously torqued, but starter still moves. Am I missing a "third bolt"? Or do I have some other problem here?  I also read recently of some "special" starter bolts Chev used, am wondering if these may be what i am missing?

Answer
Hello Jackson,
The special starter bolts are speciffically for the starter, and the shoulder may be a little different, but you should have the correct bolts.
On some engines, there is an additional bracket that attaches to one of the starter through bolts, and bolts to the block on the front end of the starter, and if yours uses this bracket, it needs to be there.
The Chevy part number is 14028931.  About $3.00 or so.
Also, if your starter needs shims, and they are not there, the flywheel will move the starter.

And the timing being off can cause excess torque to be applied, twisting the starter.
