Chevrolet Repair: 2000 Blazer; No Start, chevy blazer, 2000 chevy blazer

Question
I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4x4. Over the past while it has been hard to start under any conditions. Normally it would turn over and go right away, however occasionally it would take three or four tries. The other day out of the blue it began just turning over and over and over. It does not seem like a starter problem (to me).

Also there is usually a 2-3 "buzzing" sound when you turn the ignition, I am told that this has to do with the fuel pump. I am not sure if it was doing this when it stopped starting, but I know it is not doing it now.

Answer
Fuel pump test:

1. Get yourself a helper.

2. remove the gas cap.

3. have one person listen in the gas tank at the gas cap opening.

4. have the other person turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY so as the dash lights come on. Do NOT attempt to start the engine.

5. As soon as the ignition key is turned to the ON position, The person at the gas tank should hear the fuel pump run for TWO SECONDS and then it should STOP.

6. Does it ?.

If you do NOT hear it run, in most cases the fault is the fuel pump.

let me know.
